Who We Are

Pipiriki Incorporation represents the descendants of tūpuna from Pipiriki and the surrounding Whanganui River region. We are a collective of shareholders who whakapapa to this whenua — people with deep roots, enduring connections, and a shared responsibility to uphold the mana of our land and our community.

We were formed to manage and protect Māori freehold lands on behalf of our people, and we continue to evolve with a focus on long-term prosperity, environmental care, and cultural resilience.

This page is a space to honour our people — past and present — and to share the story of who we are, where we come from, and where we are heading.

Our People

The strength of Pipiriki Incorporation lies in its whānau. Our shareholders, trustees, and hau kāinga are committed to kaitiakitanga, whanaungatanga, and manaakitanga in everything we do.

We are proud to serve a wide network of descendants who continue to return home, contribute to projects, and advocate for the future of Pipiriki.

“We are not only the descendants of our ancestors — we are their living legacy.”

Our Whakapapa and Whenua

The rohe of Pipiriki holds immense historical and spiritual significance. It is located on the banks of the Whanganui River — an awa recognised as a legal person and living ancestor in its own right.

Pipiriki has long been a centre of cultural activity and connection. Our lands, waterways, and surrounding bush are part of our collective identity. As kaitiaki, we honour these connections through thoughtful management, protection of taonga, and support for our marae and hapū.

Our Future

Our purpose is not only to safeguard what we have inherited, but to build toward a thriving future — for our land, our people, and our mokopuna. Through smart governance, sustainable development, and a strong cultural foundation, we strive to grow our capacity as an Incorporation and contribute to the wellbeing of our community.
